Project1 - Jeff C.

Want S'more?

What challenges did I experience using Flash?

There were three issues that come to mind that gave me a bit of grief while building this first animation. The first was that it seemed a bit difficult to get just the right frames filled (or empty). This was more an annoyance than a real problem. The second was that the text options seemed to be rather limited, as my photos and background had a range of colors from bright to dark, it was hard to find a placement and text format that allowed the text to be clearly visible through the entire animation. Third, and this I was not able to resolve, no matter what I did I could not get the animation to not loop in the .swf file. I made sure that loop was unchecked under the 'control' menu and also in publish settings, but still when the file is accessed through the sws server it plays a constant loop.

How did Flash compare to new programs I've used in the past?

I would find it difficult to compare this program to others I've used in the past such as MS Office. However I'm currently learning Dreamweaver and a little bit of Photoshop, and so far I have to say that Flash seems like the least intuitive out of the three, and the one that requires the most work that could be described as...tedious. However, I am an extreme novice and I'm sure it will get easier with practice.

What do I hope to do with Flash in the future?

Well I found out last night that the website functions I wanted to learn how to complete in Flash, are actually built with Spry in Dreamweaver. So I suppose what I really want to learn in Flash is not so much how to build animations, but any functions of the program that would make sense to incorporate into a professional site for any industry. That could be an animation, but I'm not an instinctively artistic individual. I think I would like to learn the interactive capabilities of Flash, if there are any.
