Project #2
What challenges did you experience using the drawing tools? Which drawing types did you prefer?
I didn't really experience too many challenges with any of the drawing tools. Everything (especially the alien) was mainly more time-consuming than difficult. I enjoyed using the pen tool and the shape tools... sometimes in conjunction with the brush tool to fill in any spots or smooth corners that I couldn't fix otherwise.
What deco tools you did use? Were you able to create the objects you wanted?
I only used the deco tool to make the tree... other than that, I didn't use it at all, mainly because I found it a bit frustrating to try and create a tree, etc, exactly how I wanted. In the end I was able to make a tree that I liked (after countless, epic battles with the ctrl+z keys and re-drawing until it ended up looking right).
What did you draw using the pen tool?
I used the pen tool for creating the boulders and certain parts of my alien ( the tail, the tongue, claws, arms, and other stuff that I can't really remember).
Please describe how you created your alien.
Looots and looots of time! And looots of layers (probably more than I needed, but oh well)! But really, mainly just using the shape tools to create a base to work with and then altering them around with the selection tools. Filling in with gradients to add depth, and using the pen tool to create shapes that I couldn't with the regular shape tools.
Please discuss how the layer order and folder management assisted you in managing your project.
It was helpful. :) I'm used to using layers and keeping the order neat so things don't overlap strangely and won't get lost too easily in a cluttered mess, but before this project I hadn't really ever used folders before. It was extremely nice to be able to keep certain aspects of the project together in one place so things don't get mixed up (and being able to collapse a folder to hide the layers inside is awesome as well). It made managing all the project layers so much easier.
