How did Sound improve your movie result? If sound did not improve the movie, why not?
My sound didn't necessarily make the movie better, but it did kind of reinforce the "theme" with the spotlight-esque masks that I used.
When including sound, what do you need to be aware of to optimize your movie? What program did you use to modify your audio file?
You definitely need to be aware of the length of the audio track so that you don't have a large sound/song for a short movie. I just used Flash to shorten it and then fade it out sort of quickly near the end.
What were your intentions in creating your masks? Did you achieve these goals?
I wanted them to look like searchlights or light pouring onto the wall. I think I accomplished it, but there might be a way to blur the edges of the mask that would look more realistic.
Did you think the stop at the end of the movie will improve the users experience?
In this case, yes. Nobody wants to hear that siren wail over and over, and after the masks run along the words, the words show in full.
What challenges and benefits did you experience using sound and masks to your movie?
I didn't do anything too amazing with this project, but it's very beneficial to get extra practice in using them. I'm definitely going to use masks and sounds in future projects, especially the final banner project.
